next to Omers' newest neighborhood. Relationships between Omer and Tarabin
are very tense.

Read all about
it.
April2000
The Omer municipality borders areexpanded
to include several Beduin settlements, including Abu Caf, a pretty large
Beduin community living tens of years next to Omer. Abu Caf and other settlements
just got some recognition by the authorities and were promised to get a
"service center" in their community. They don't want to become second rank
citizens of Mer. The DuKium organization is working hard to reverse
the decision of annexation.
March 2000
We joined forces with the Civil Rights
association, the Jewish-Arab Center for Economic Development, the Councel
of Unrecognized Villages and three inhabitants of unrecognized villages
in an appeal to the Israeli High Court of Justice for recognition of Bedouin
Villages.
January 2000
In January 23 we organized an evening
in the Cinematheque in Tel Aviv on the unrecognized Beduin villages.
This war the first time some of the interested
public learned about the Bedouin unrecognized villages, and especially
about Derigat.
Also the films shownprovided insights
in the often very difficult circumstances Beduin and especially Beduin
women live under.
