Research Interests

Biotechnology. Biomaterials. Polymeric systems for controlled drug delivery. Ultrasound for enhanced transport through membranes. Non-viral gene therapy. Diabetes technology and therapeutics Immobilized enzymes and cell microencapsulsulation. Implants and biocompatibility. Structure and propreties of polymers.Transport phenomena in polymers.

Research Projects

Polymeric Controlled Drug Delivery Systems. Work is in progress in several areas: Responsive Systems. Development of a polymeric membrane to control delivery of insulin at rates dependent upon the external glucose concentration. Dvelopment of safe and efficient non-viral carriers for gene therapy.  Investigation and development of ultrasonic modulated polymeric and liposomal drug delivery systems. Investigation of the effect of ultrasound on transport of low and high molecular-weight molecules through polymeric membranes. Applications of ultrasound for non-invasive transdermal drug delivery and sensing of glucose
