Research Interests

  • Research Interests
  • My main research interests are in the history and philosophy of the biological and biochemical sciences in the 19th and 20th centuries. I am reviewing the history of concepts, theories, and experiments on the one hand and examine political, social, and personal factors and their impact on the advancement of sciences on the other. Areas of research include
  • - the study of the history of biomedical, biochemical and early molecular biological sciences where I examine the nature of and causes for scientific progress and its many adversaries. Among other things, I analyse different research practices, controversies and the impact of scientific and metaphysical factors on them;
  • - the analysis of the disproportionate success and disciplinary differences of achievements of Jewish scientists in German academia in the 19th and 20th centuries;
  • - an examination of cases of scientific misconduct, its influence on the work of colleagues and the possible influence on the prevalence of misconduct of the political context;
  • - an investigation of the effect of National Socialist political ideology and policy on science.
