Research Interests

  • Biotechnology. Biomaterials. Polymeric systems for controlled drug delivery. Ultrasound for enhanced transport through membranes. Non-viral gene therapy. Diabetes technology and therapeutics Immobilized enzymes and cell microencapsulsulation. Implants and biocompatibility. Structure and propreties of polymers.Transport phenomena in polymers.

Research Projects

  • Polymeric Controlled Drug Delivery Systems. Work is in progress in several areas: Responsive Systems. Development of a polymeric membrane to control delivery of insulin at rates dependent upon the external glucose concentration. Dvelopment of safe and efficient non-viral carriers for gene therapy. Investigation and development of ultrasonic modulated polymeric and liposomal drug delivery systems. Investigation of the effect of ultrasound on transport of low and high molecular-weight molecules through polymeric membranes. Applications of ultrasound for non-invasive transdermal drug delivery and sensing of glucose
