Core Processes

Molecular Biology is leading a revolution in medicine and increasingly touching on how you as doctors consider diagnosis and therapy.
All of these changes sit on a foundation of biological processes that define how living things deal with genetic information. They may be represented and related to each other in a single diagram (above). The vertical axis of the left side elements represents the processing of information-bearing material in a cell without reference to the information it carries (think photocopying). The horizontal axis represents the use of the information (think reading). At the center lies the physical repository of genetic information - DNA and RNA. Together these form the core of Molecular Biology. Each is a topic in the different modules listed on the left. Each was part of your background studies and each will eventually be a part of your licensing exam.
