Education

  • 1974: Ph.D. in Physiology, Dept. Physiology. School Med., Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Research Interests

  • My research focuses on regulation and mechanism of action of ion channels and transporters. I studied calcium and potassium channels as well as purinergic receptors in epithelial and neuronal cells. Recently, I am concentrating on mechanisms regulating calcium channels in the cardiovascular system. Together with cardiologists, my laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias from the gene level to the living animal and humans.

Research Projects

  • Modulation of L-type calcium channels by ZnT-1; mechanism and cardiovascular implications.
  • Role of ZnT-1 in ischemic and tachycardia-induced cardiac electrical remodeling underlying molecular mechanisms.
  • ZnT-1, an intrinsic modulator of Zinc and Calcium influx; Its Role in the Pathogenesis of Atrial Fibrillation
